Even though Xiaomi was the first Chinese manufacturer to bring the concept of a bezel-less smartphone. The Xiaomi Mi Mix was still not a well-received smartphone. Mainly due to its big size, which back then was not what everyone was looking for. Well now Xiaomi have launched a sequel to its original smartphone known as Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. Which improves upon a lot of things Xiaomi did wrong with its first bezel-less smartphone.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 now comes with a smaller 5.99 inch display. That compared to the 6.44 inch display on its predecessor is much manageable now to hold. This is because of the new 18:9 aspect ratio that the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 adopts. While its predecessor the Xiaomi Mi Mix came with a much wider 17:9 aspect ratio. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 also offers a ceramic back with an aluminum frame. While a special edition will also be available that comes with a full uni-body ceramic design. Xiaomi have also equipped its Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 with an actual speaker now. Which is quiet an improvement over its piezoelectric ceramic driver found on its predecessor.
In terms of specs the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 comes equipped with a 5.99 inch display. That supports a resolution of 2160 x 1080. There is also a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 running under the hood. That is coupled with 6GB or 8GB of RAM with up to 256GB of non-expandable storage. Aside from that there is 12MP camera on the back of the smartphone. While a front facing camera is also available on the bottom of the smartphone. Where to power it all a 3400mAh battery is present.
The new Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 like all its other smartphones will only be available in China. Though users who are interested can get their hands on one for $500 which includes the base model with 6GB RAM and 64GB of on board storage. While the special edition would set you back a total of $720, that comes equipped with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of on board storage.
