Last year we got to see two new models from Sony of their original PlayStation 4 console. Which included a more powerful console called the PlayStation 4 Pro and the slimmer PlayStation 4 Slim. PlayStation 4 Pro was something new, which was targeted towards pushing VR content and 4k gameplay. Same cannot be said about the Playstation 4 Slim. As with every PlayStation console, we have always seen a slimmer version being launched after some time.
Let’s look at the recently launched PlayStation 4 slim console. Comparing what the slimmer version of PlayStation 4 offers over its three year old predecessor the original PlayStation 4. Below you will find all the details regarding the two consoles and all their specs.
The biggest different between the two consoles comes in their design. Where the new PlayStation 4 slim packs all the hardware that the original PlayStation 4 had, in a thirty percent slimmer body. What is impressive to see here, is that even with the slimmer body. The new PlayStation 4 slim only cuts down on the optical audio port. While everything else is still there on the console. The new PlayStation 4 slim now also comes with tactile buttons instead of the touch buttons found on the original PlayStation 4. Which now makes it easier to operate for its users.
Aside from that the other big update that the new PlayStation 4 slim brings is its new DualShock 4 controller. Where on the touch pad of the new controller a light bar is now present. Which can also change both its color as well as brightness depending on the situation of the game. This make it easier to appreciate the different kinds of lights the controller makes. Because it wasn’t noticeable on the original DualShock 4 controller due to its placement on the back.
Aside from these two things both the consoles are exactly the same. Users won’t benefit from anything extra aside from the two above mentioned things. Though if you are planning to go for a PlayStation 4 Pro instead. Then there is a huge improvement, in terms of performance.
