When Turkish users woke up on Saturday they found no access to Wikipedia. Turk government officially blocked Wikipedia without explaining the reason to the public.

According to some reports the ban was implemented due to the violation of some state laws. Going into detail, the internet users started reporting about the the free encyclopaedia at early Saturday morning. According to the Ministries of Communication the website blocked because it provides some articles mentioning that Turkey is supporting terrorist groups. From the Verge reports:

“Instead of coordinating against terrorism,” the Ministry says, “it has become part of an information source which is running a smear campaign against Turkey in the international arena.”

According to Anodulu, the ban would be removed in that case if the website organisation meet the Turks government demand.

On the Other hand Wikipedia’s founder Jimmy Wales response by twitting something like this;

“access to information is a fundamental human right.”

In past the Turk government has been cracked down with other social site also like, Facebook , Youtube and Twitter etc. due to terrorist propaganda or citing the national security as a reason.
