Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited, commonly known as TSMC has a track record of yielding an extraordinary quantity of products when it comes to 7nm process nodes. Samsung is also one of the mass producers and is going to shift on this technology in the upcoming generations of its smartphones but it isn’t somewhere near to TSMC. According to the latest reports, TSMC will be the only supplier of Apple’s upcoming A12 SoCs for the 2018 iPhone family.
Apple’s A12 Chipsets
A report was published by DigiTimes which claimed that TSMC has got the order for mass production of 7nm process nodes from over 40 companies. To top the list, we have Apple which will be introducing this latest technology in their upcoming smartphones with Qualcomm’s chips also joining the game. As a matter of disappointment for Samsung, the numbers to compete with TSMC, couldn’t be achieved.
Extreme Ultraviolet Technology (EUV)
Not only TSMC is ahead in terms of mass production, they are also the trendsetters for using EUV in the production of 7nm process nodes. Why EUV? Because it has also opened the doors for 5nm and 3nm processes nodes. Whoa!
Apple A12 chipset will be out to gradually rule out the all-new A11 Bionic cores so brace yourselves for the quick technology shift!
