Google I/O brought some exciting news for all the google fans and especially Android users. We saw the beta release of the Android O and also, the Verizon’s announcement of the ASUS Zenfone AR was a treat to watch. These announcements in addition to the many other ones are summed up in the video below.
Android is not only the property of people having high-end specifications. The company announced Android Go which is basically a new platform for those who can’t afford bigger smartphones and have to manage with the lower-end devices which don’t have the enough hardware resources. To bring an optimized solution for such people, Android has released the Android Go where all the Play Store apps will be optimized for such smartphones. Moreover, the Play Store will highlight only those apps that would be perfect for such a smartphone.
There are some options in the Android Go which let you use only the apps with lesser data consumption. You can adjust the settings through a quick settings button according to your choice in most of the apps. Also, apps like YouTube and Google Chrome come with the setting pre-adjusted which won’t allow you to play “Data Parasites” on Mobile Data. According to the rumors, you’ll be able to use the first Android Go device from 2018.
Biggest Ever Android Family
The best news to come out from the I/O conference was that the Android family now consists of 2 billion active users. Now, what these active users mean? This figure actually contains those people who actively visit the Google Play Store. So, the actual figure of Android Family is even bigger than this. Google’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, was also very happy on this occasion as in addition to the android users, the Google Drive’s users also jumped up to the figure of 800 million. Moreover, Google Photos also has almost 500 million active users.
Another important announcement of the event is the Google Lens which is actually dependent on Google’s AI and knowledge graph. To explain a bit about its functionalities, Sundar Pichai gave some hints about what the Lens is capable of doing. It includes:
