Currently the best chip that Qualcomm has to offer, is their Snapdragon 835 processor. But the US chip maker also have a lot of future plans for us. Where they are planning to introduce their two new upcoming mobile chips. Which will include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 and 630, designed mostly for mid ranged smartphones.
Recently we got to see some benchmark scores regarding the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor. Where the processor was able to gain a score of 5455 points in multi-core test. Now let’s compare what the current flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 can do against the upcoming Snapdragon 660. Well on the Galaxy S8+ the chip was able to gain a score of 6301 points. Which is only 15.5% faster than what the mid-tier Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 has to offer.
The upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 was also able to gain a single-core score of around 1588 points. Compared to the 1832 points of the current Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip. But where the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 really shines, is its advantage over its predecessor. Where the chip is around 16% faster than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 653.
In terms of specs the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chip will be made on a 14nm manufacturing processor. Where the chip will be powered by a total of eight 64-bit Kryo 260 cores. Which will all be running at a clock speed of 2.2GHz, that is also coupled with an Andreno 512 graphics. Aside from that the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chip also comes with support for 4k video capture as well as playback. There is also Qualcomm quick charge 4.0 support on the chip and support for advanced LTE. With a maximum up and down speeds of 150Mbps and 600Mbps respectively.
What’s good to see here is how even the mid-tier processor from Qualcomm is performing quiet good. Soon there would also be other new mid-tier Qualcomm chips that can also perform as well as the upcoming Snapdragon 660 chip.
