Intel announced its plans for the upcoming Hexacore 8th gen processors, the Intel Coffee Lake processors, quite some time ago. The company had solid plans for rolling out the processors next year but pertaining to AMD‘s threat, the company seems in a bit hurry to roll out the new processors. The best news to come out today is that the new 6-core processor will cost almost the same as the previous 4 core model.
AMD’s Call For Competiton
AMD has always given a tough time to Intel when it comes to the price to core count. But now it seems like Intel has also decided to keep its level up by bringing the price tag down. It is pretty much obvious that the price may increase with the higher number of processor cores and hence a 5-15% price hike was expected with the release of this model but now Intel has brought the price levels down as opposite to our expectations.
Performance Bar Needs To Go High Too
With some normal incremental changes, Intel has not been way impressive than we expected it to be. If we look at the track record of the company it seems like there were no noticeable changes in the architecture except some minor ones. But now, with the Ryzen series giving a tough competition to the Intel’s processors, the company needs to bring exceptional changes in the next iteration to justify the price. Not much is known about the upcoming Coffee Lake processors but it would surely be interesting to see the outcome of Intel’s biggest minds behind the new iteration’s release.
