In metal air battery packs, metal (aluminum, iron, lithium, zinc etc) is used as an anode, while oxygen from the air is taken to be consumed as the cathode.

Electric vehicles require greater energy density – the amount of energy that is stored in a given volume – that is crucial for enabling the increased range without thinking of increasing the battery size.
