Since the British majority voted for so-called Brexit, their currency has clearly lost value in the market especially against the US dollar. Sonos ‘sound system manufacturer’ also draws consequences and announces to increase the price of its Sound accessories.
Almost 6 months ago the British voted for the withdrawal of their country from Europe, which tends to be the reason for many tech companies to increase the price of its product.
Sonos has now announced to raise the prices of its speakers in the UK significantly.The reason is the significant declination of British pound of more than ten percent against the US dollar. As announced by the US manufacturer networked official website, the price will increase on 23 February. Nine of Sonos accessories will be 10 to 25 percent more expensive. The significant price increase in CONNECT:AMP speakers which rise from 399 to 499 pounds (about 588 euros).
Sonos is not the first company to increases prices for British customers. Apple, Microsoft,
Dell and One Plus has recently announced the same, even Adobe customers have to pay more than 60 percent for its product.
Sonos state on the matter that
”Our prices are defined regionally. In the UK, this includes local taxation and import duties, but we pay for everything we make in US dollars. Over recent months, there has been a significant change on the US Dollar to GBP exchange rate. As a result, our existing pricing has become unsustainable and, like many other companies, we have to increase prices for all products priced in GBP.”
