After Raja Koduri has said goodbye to AMD, it’s time for the company to fill the gap and Scott Wasson has come up with some answers. Radeon Technologies Group didn’t reveal any of its future plans for the mobile market and long-term GPU architecture roadmap but while speaking generally of RTG’s future, Wasson confirmed that the shortage of reference cards will continue. While talking to PC Games Hardware, Wasson said that the company is now making custom designs a priority to deal with all the backlash that it has faced.
The Navi Generation
To succeed the Vega 7nm architecture, Radeon is preparing Navi whose sampling will start later this year. It would definitely take some time for AMD to smooth out the transition so you’ll probably have to wait until the next year to see Navi rocking the computers.
Instead of the Radeon 600 series cards, Radeon may look up to launch smaller Vega and replace Polaris 10 GPU or launch Polaris with GDDR6. So all those waiting for the Radeon 600 series, should calm down.
