According to some report, Apple struck a deal of $6.96 billion in last April 2016 to ordered 100 million OLED panels from Samsung for iPhone 8. The iPhone 8 is believed to have a unique and elegant design.
Apple could celebrate iPhones tenth anniversary (as it was introduced in 2007) with iPhone 8 and OLED display from Samsung. The anniversary doesn’t come cheap as Apple has to pay $71 per OLED screen which travel straight to the pocket of its South Korean rival.
However, Apple has increased the order of OLED panels. A new agreement worth $4.3 billion was signed between the two tech companies that would add additional 60 million units of OLED.
Apple frequently buys components from different partners for its products. apparently, Samsung will supply 80 percent of the display panels of the iPhone 8.
According to rumors, iPhone8 may be available in the market later this year in September and there is also a possibility that iPhone8 could have curved design as its featuring the OLED screens.
Besides LG, Samsung is the only company that manufactures OLED screens. The company’s Display division dominates the global mobile OLED display market holding more than 95 percent of the market share.
