Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 is one the most advanced gaming monitors to bless us in recent times. It is no less than a beast and packs some of the most amazing features which were missing in the Samsung Odyssey G9. Although the 49-inch curved display and 5,120 x 1,440 resolution remains the same, there are several improvements in the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 from the previous version.
According to Samsung, the Odyssey Neo G9 will be available world wide from next month and then only we will be able to judge its performance. Till then, let’s have a look at some of the amazing highlights.
Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 Design
The Samsung Odyssey NeoG9’s design does not seem very different from its predecessor. Its back is made of white plastic and contains an RGB light ring. However, the bezel looked very similar to that present in the previous version. The 49-inch display is no doubt gigantic, but if you are used to playing on a console in your living room, the size won’t seem a big deal to you. The size is huge enough to completely acquire your field of view.
This means the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 requires a large space to fit in. You will need a big, sturdy desk to place the monitor. It comes with a standard VESA mount so you can mount it on the wall.
Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 Performance
The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and is compatible with Nvidia G-Sync. It also supports VRR, i.e, Variable Refresh Rate. There are a few features that it has retained from the previous version, like the 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time. However, the two HDMI ports have been upgraded to 2.1 standard capable of offering the needed bandwidth to let it benefit from its speedy refresh rate and resolution over HDMI.
The company is very confident about how Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 will blow users’ minds with its performance. It has doubled its brightness from 1000 nits to 2000 and therefore it has been given a HDR 2000 rating. The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 also includes the new Quantum Mini LED tech. The LEDs are 1/40th of the standard LED. According to Samsung, this gives a greater resolution and a finer distinction between the light and dark. Also, the 2,048 local dimming zones are a huge improvement over the 10 dimming zones in the previous model.
The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9’s HDR helps to make all the colors pop out brightly on the screen. The local dimming zones give an incredible look to the darker zones. Except for the 4K resolution, the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 has been blessed with every feature that is needed to make it the best gaming monitor yet.
