Samsung Might Offer Their Galaxy S9 Smartphone Next Year In Two Variants

Due to what happened between Samsung and Qualcomm. We might see the next Galaxy S9 smartphone to offer two variants based on two different chip. That will include Samsung’s own in house chip based on their 8nm manufacturing. As well as a Qualcomm made 7nm chip, which would be an advantage over their current Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise as Samsung have been following this practice for quite a while. Where only the US variant of the Galaxy S8 smartphone is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip. While other variants come equipped with Samsung’s own Exynos chip. Though if you are not aware Samsung and Qualcomm will soon be parting ways. As Qualcomm have decided to go with TSMC for the manufacturing of their upcoming 7nm chip. Which was initially planned to be with Samsung instead.

You might be wondering why Samsung will be offering an 8nm chip. Instead of buying a more efficient 7nm chip from Qualcomm instead. Well this is because Samsung is doubling up its investment for the year 2019. Where the company will be launching its own Exynos chip. While be based on their new 6nm manufacturing process. So in order to compensate for their new 6nm chip. Samsung is said to reducing its investment in making their 7nm chips.

What Qualcomm is doing seems to be a strategic move against Samsung. As Samsung will be suffering next year. Because in order to get its hands on the new Qualcomm chip. Samsung will have to buy it from TSMC instead. While before Samsung was making the 10nm based Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip themselves.

Whatever the case maybe both Samsung and Qualcomm offer one of the best mobile processing chips on the market. So whether these two companies work together or not. Do expect the best performance out of both of them.
