Samsung just announced its brand new 2018 Galaxy A series. Which will include only two smartphones named the Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+. These two new smartphones from Samsung would be the only offerings from Samsung this year. Which makes the naming scheme much simpler with only two options to choose from, rather than many like last year.
Both the Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+ feature Samsung infinity display with its signature 18:5:9 aspect ratio. Where the Galaxy A8 comes equipped with a 5.6 inch display. While the bigger Galaxy A8+ comes with a 5.8 inch display instead, supporting a resolution of 2220 x 1080.
Aside from the bump in display size there is no difference between the two. Which both come equipped with the Samsung Exynos 7885 octa core processor, coupled with 4/6 GB RAM and up to 64 GB of on board storage with microSD card support. There is also a dual camera setup at the front of the smartphone with a combination of 16MP + 8MP 1080p cameras. While on the back the both come with a 16MP camera. Where to power everything the Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+ are powered by a 3000 mAh and 3500 mAh batteries respectively.
Samsung is also adding in an extra features called Live Focus for the two front facing cameras. Which lets the user chose between a soft bokeh effect and a focused background. The back 16MP camera on the other hand does not have optical image stabilization, but does come with support for digital stabilization for steadier videos. Aside from that both the Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+ would also have support for water resistance with IP68 certification and USB-C connector for fast charging.
Users who are interested will get their on the new Galaxy A 2018 series starting next month. Where the Galaxy A8 is expected to be priced somewhere around €499. While the bigger Galaxy A8+ would cost you €599.
