Razer is making some important moves to expand the business. Razer is known for gaming hardware and gaming app. The company has purchased and audio tech company THX and it has decided to expand the portfolio to the production of smartphone Nextbit. Finally, Razer is ready to launch a smartphone Nextbit smartphone in cooperation Robin.
Razer acquires Robin smartphone, Nextbit has raised $18 million for the financial deal, the crowdfunding campaign is partly done to access the market phone for Robin Smartphone. Robin turned head last year and mainly made financial funding through the kickstarter campaign. The company has stop selling and decided to new business with Razer.
Nextbit CEO Tom Moss said, ” the thing to notice is that we will be doing exactly what we are doing, for now, the only expected change is that we will be doing it in batter and bigger manner.” The purchased firm Robin’s warranty claim would be welcome for next six months. The security updates and patches would be followed through February 2018. These updates are critical to Robin because of standout features like the ability to store apps and photos on the cloud with additional 100 GB cloud storage.
Security Updates of Robin for next year:
Update for the next year will happen to Nextbit’s plans beyond the current Robin which is not yet clear. These are limited to GSM-only to AT&T and T-Mobile in the US. The company had to stop CDMA version for Sprint and Verizon.
Razer’s Future plans for Nextbit:
There are few are pending on after the acquisition decisions. The first issue of concern is the human resource of Robin which is unclear at yet, the company has not decided whether it will work Robin talent or not. Razer Co-Founder and CEO Min-Liang Tan only said that the talent Nextbit will bring to Razer is yet to be final but the company is focused on start a new and separate business.
The company purchased Ouya Android based company console for TV. Ouya changed the human resource and focused only on the software assets.
