Last week, at MWC 2017, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. announced its Fingerprint Sensor technology. This new technology is the next-generation ultrasonic fingerprint solution. The technology works on a sensor display and can be detected also even from metal and glass.
The Qualcomm sensors have potential to work even under 800 micrometers of glass that is more than the Mi 5 have the fingerprint sensor technology. The technology is beating the Apple iPhone fingerprint sensor technology.
According to the report, Qualcomm fingerprint technology enbaled first smartphone will be released in first half of the coming year. The Apple iPhone 8 is going to release in this September. Many of the users will have iPhone 8 series when the Qualcomm smartphone will be released.
Seshu Madhavapeddy, vice president, product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. stated about the technologies as:
“We are excited to announce Qualcomm Fingerprint Sensors because they can be designed to support sleeker, cutting-edge form factors, unique mobile authentication experiences, and enhanced security authentication. This provides OEMs and operators with the ability to offer truly distinct, differentiated devices with added value on truly groundbreaking new devices.”
However, the rumors create a prototype of the smartphone, no matter what will be the name suggested or the release date. It is expected the Chines smartphone maker Vivo will itself going to launch the smartphone that is based on Vivo Xplay6.
The user is expecting the smartphone will have the feature of Qualcomm’s fingerprint scanner, the technology working on ultrasonic waves to read the sensors. Similarly, Apple also has a patent for the work on the similar technology based smartphone.
According to source, the fingerprint recognition speed is “noticeably slower” than the other smartphone in the market having the feature of fingerprint sensor. The device takes about one second to go to the home screen and instantaneous unlock the device with a small recognition area that is very disappointing to many users.
The company needs to work a lot on the technology, Apple iPhone 8 delay is due to the imperfection of the fingerprint sensor technology. We have to wait for the release of the such technology and we are not sure is Vivo will be the first smartphone owing the Qualcomm’s fingerprint scanner technology.
