Qualcomm and Samsung partnered last year to manufacture the Snapdragon 835 chipset via 10nm technology. The agreement benefits both companies as Samsung used the Soc in its high-end smartphones Galaxy S8 and S8+ while other companies also prevail the Snapdragon 835 in smartphones like Sony Xperia XZ Premium, HTC U11 and in the upcoming OnePlus 5.

Now Qualcomm is working on the first 7-nanometer processor, but the company has decided to end its partnership with Samsung.

TSMC was already working on 7nm processors and now Qualcomm will cooperate in the production of the 7-nanometer processor. In recent time Samsung lost the second partner as Apple also chose its rival TSMC to create Apple A11 processor.

The production of the 7-nanometer processors is expected to available in 2018. The development from 10nm to 7-nanometer technology will lead more transistors on a chip that will require less energy. 7nm processors will require less power that will boost the performance and elongate battery life.

However, Samsung continues to develop 10nm processors for now, The first device to come with 7nm chips is expected to hit the market in 2019.
