On the CPU side of things currently Intel and AMD are fighting hard with their offerings. Where AMD fans are waiting for their new Threadripper processor. While Intel recently announced their new Core X series. Though same is not the case when it comes to providing the best graphics solution. Where currently NVIDIA is on the top with its Pascal lineup. While AMD fans are still waiting in on VEGA to arrive. After which we would have a real idea of how the two companies would compete against each other.
We do know that VEGA is on its way, but aside from that there are barely any details regarding AMD VEGA or how the new architecture will perform. AMD did reveal its Frontier Edition graphics card recently based on VEGA. But it’s something that is not design for a general consumer. While AMD Frontier Edition graphics card is aimed towards 3D rendering, cloud computing as well as machine learning. Aside from that it’s also kind of better in a good way. Because after looking at the pricing on the upcoming AMD Frontier Edition graphics card we wouldn’t want to be the targeted consumers.
The pricing on the upcoming AMD Frontier Edition graphics card was spotted on two websites, including Scan UK and Sabre PC. Where the price for the air cooled version was $1199. While the liquid cooled version comes with an even heftier $1799 price tag. In terms of performance the upcoming AMD Frontier Edition graphics card will be able to deliver up to 13 TFlops of computing power. Which compared to the current Nvidia Titan X Pascal is 1 TFlop higher.
Looks like AMD has everything under control on the organization side of things. But what about PC gamers? Well according to AMD their upcoming VEGA graphics card designed for gamers, would be even faster than their Frontier Edition VEGA offering. Though these are just words and we still haven’t seen any real world performance numbers.
