It’s been a while since we last saw a custom variant of AMD RX Vega card. But PowerColor just unveiled its new custom RX Vega 56 GPU, based on their Red Dragon edition. This new offering from PowerColor is known as the Red Dragon RX Vega 56.
The Red Dragon edition from PowerColor sits below its Red Devil variant. Which was launch a while ago known as the Red Devil RX Vega 56. Because of that the new Red Dragon 56 variant from PowerColor will be sold cheaper, while the requirements on the GPU are also a bit lower compared to its high end sibling.
In terms of specs the PowerColor Red Dragon comes with a total of 3584 stream processor, boosting itself up to 1478 MHz. This boost frequency puts it above the reference RX Vega 56 at 1471 Mhz, while the top of the line Red Devil can go as high as 1526MHz. Aside from that the PowerColor Red Dragon 56 comes coupled with 8GB of RAM that runs at a bandwidth of 410 GB/s, on a frequency of 800MHz.
The Red Dragon RX Vega 56 also comes equipped with three fans. While all the power it needs is generated through a single eight pin PCIE connector, which requires a total of 450W on load. This also puts it below the Red Devil edition as that variant consumes a total of 750W on load. As for the dimensions of the GPU, PowerColor didn’t provide any specific details. But judging from the size of the cooler it should at least require two slots to fit in.
The PowerColor Red Dragon 56 will be available for sale starting March 28, though the pricing on the GPU is not announced yet. But with the current situation that is going on due to crypto currency mining. Do expect the GPU to be sold higher than its MSRP.
