To keep things cool, the overclockers strategically used Liquid Helium. Now if you know what liquid helium is capable of, you already know the -250°C downfall! Other hardware specs of the test system include:

  • Gigabyte X299-SOC Champion motherboard
  • 16GB of Corsair Vengeance
  • DDR4 memory running at 4333MHz
  • Corsair AX1500i power supply

In addition to achieving the 7.5GHz clock speed, there were 3 other world records made in 3DMark03, 3DMark06, and Aquamark too! The hardware configuration for these records was not the same with the addition of an Aorus GTX 1080Ti graphics card and some G.Skill Trident-Z DDR4 memory running at 3600MHz.
Another ‘global first’ record was set for achieving 3DMark06 using a tweaked system configuration using two GTX 1080Tis instead of one.
