Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has achieved another milestone in their progressive journey as they announced the ‘Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF) 1.3 Certification’. This certification is for Samsung ARTIK 05x series of modules. The module under discussion is company’s first system-on-module family to be certified using new OCF standards.
Connectivity for IoT
The certification is provided to the Samsung ARTIK 05x series because of which, companies are able to build Wi-Fi enabled edge products. The greatest benefit is that for the companies to create products, to work with other OCF certified IoT devices, you don’t need to worry about:
- Form factor
- Operating system
- Service providers
James Stansberry, Senior Vice President and General Manager of ARTIK IoT, Samsung Electronics said:
This is a big win for our customers not only can they get to market faster with our production-ready, secure system-on-modules, but they can leverage ARTIK OCF and radio certifications to ensure that their products will work together.
John Park, Executive Director, OCF added:
Samsung has been a major contributor to the OCF effort to drive standards for IoT. We’re delighted that the company is not only adopting the standards themselves but helping provide products that contribute to the goal of building devices that ‘just work’ with each other.
