After having successful partnerships with major Automotive companies like Audi and Volvo etc., Nvidia is now aiming towards building new self-driving alliances with Chinese Internet giant Baidu. Baidu is one of the most widely used networks in China hence captures a big chunk of the market. The Nvidia’s technology named as Drive PX tech will find its way into Baidu’s upcoming self-driving car platform named “Apollo.” To show his keen interest, Baidu’s chief Robin Li himself traveled to the event in one of his company’s driverless rides without caring about the law.

Add-Ons for Baidu Users

As a secondary gift for Baidu users, Nvidia has planned to make the company’s deep learning Volta GPUs available to Baidu Cloud customers. Also, they will be able to optimize Baidu’s deep learning platform (PaddlePaddle) for those Volta processors and use Baidu’s conversational AI, DuerOS, for voice commands on NVIDIA’s Shield TV.

Baidu Empowering Others

Not only this, Baidu is empowering companies in China to join hands including Waymo, GM and other companies. Nvidia obviously will be making out a lot of money from this deal but these steps from Baidu will eventually help Chinese people. In addition, Baidu has solid plans to involve other major companies in the circle which includes big names like Ford, Intel, and Microsoft etc.
