As Computex 2018 approaches, one would expect the arrival of Intel Z390 and AMD B450 chipsets or even the new sensation Z490. But to our surprise, MSI is bringing an X399 motherboard for the Ryzen Threadripper.

Not just any X399, it is actually the most outrageous Threadripper motherboard to have seen the day of light. Dubbed as the MSI MEG X399 Creation, this motherboard is the best in terms of design. Have a look:

The Design

The most important factor of the board that actually makes it so special, is that its design is based on an appealing and a polarizing design. Speaking of the form factor, this obviously isn’t going for the ATX spec as its wide design makes it clearly look like an E-ATX form factor.

The Cooling

For cooling, there is a gigantic L-shaped heatsink placed at the bottom-right corner. This cooler actually serves the purpose for both the X399 chipset and for the three M.2 slots that it can host.

The board also features huge-sized VRM heatsinks which extend to the left side, while the rear-I/O shroud blends into it, running the entire length of the left side.

What Can It Support?

Here’s all you can mount on the gigantic X399 chipset:

  • AMD Ryzen Threadripper
  • A maximum of 7 M.2 slots
  • A 19-phase VRM
  • Two 8-pin EPS connectors
  • Four PCIe 3.0 x16 slots
  • Eight DDR4 DIMM slots
AMD Ryzen 5 1600X (6C12T) seems to be superior to Intel's i5-7600K 4C4T processor
