When it comes to getting an ultrabook, there are a lot of options out there. One of the famous being the XPS 13 2-in-1 from Dell. But a new competitor also entered the market from Microsoft, with their Surface Laptop. Which also comes in the ultrabook category with similar specs to what its competition is offering. Let’s compared the two new ultrabooks against each other and see which one is a better value for your money.
In terms of specs both the XPS 13 2-in-1 and Microsoft Surface Laptop are similar in every aspect. Both can be configured by its user before buying. Though keep one thing in mind that both the Intel 7th Gen Core i5 and Core i7 offerings, only comes with a dual core processor. Aside from that both the laptops carry similar specs to each other.
In terms of display technology there is a wide difference between the two ultrabooks. Where the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 supports a top resolution of 3200 X 1800. While on the new Microsoft Surface Laptop the display supports a resolution of 2256 x 1504. There is also a difference in the screen size present on both ultrabooks. Where the XPS 13 2-in-1 is equipped with a 13.3 inch Infinity display. While the Microsoft Surface Laptop comes equipped with a 13.5 inch PixelSense touch display.
Well if you are looking at the base configurations, the Microsoft Surface Laptop is a better option at $999. We say this because on the base model of the Microsoft Surface Laptop, users would still be getting the higher resolution touch display at 2256 x 1504. While the base model of the XPS 13 2-in-1 only comes with a Full-HD display. Which being offered at the same price does not seems like a good option. Compared to what Microsoft has to offer.
In the end it always depends on the user, which brand they want to choose over the other. Though I would recommend waiting for the Microsoft Surface Laptop. Because it’s not available on the market as of now. But the laptop does offer a lot for its starting price of $999. Which provides a 13.5 inch PixelSense touch display, equipped with an Intel Core i5 processor. That is coupled with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage that runs on a new OS called Windows 10S.
