We have seen quite a lot of games that are going to be enhanced for Xbox One X. There’s over 70 titles that have been confirmed so far. In many cases this means resolution bump to native 4k and on top of that we have got other graphical improvements as well. For example: better textures, better shadows, better lighting etc etc.
There were couple of rumors before E3, Star Wars Battlefront II was one of those Xbox One X enhanced titles as well. There were also some rumors that the game will even run in 4k which is not been confirmed yet. At least for now what confirmed is Xbox One X is going to be put in good use for this game. Because Star Wars Battlefront II is going to be at least Xbox One X enhanced.
The announcement comes from the official Xbox web page. Microsoft has revealed on their web page that Star Wars Battlefront II is going to be available as of November 17th, 2017. It’s going to be Xbox One X enhanced title. The good thing is that even more 3rd party developers will take advantage of Xbox One X extra power.
Whether this game runs in native 4k or checkerboarded 4k it doesn’t matter. Star Wars Battlefront 1 was released two years ago on both PS4 and Xbox One. It actually run in 720p on Xbox One. Going back Microsoft claimed that Xbox One should be able to scale the resolution from 900p to 1080p to Native 4k.
With 720p games the different way of rendering the game maybe necessary. This suggests that Battle Front will use some sorts of checkerboard rendering or this may be as well a native 4k game but using the dynamic resolution scaling when the action is getting too hot. Nothing has been confirmed yet, we probably have to wait and see a bit longer.
