Microsoft is introducing some changes to the Xbox Insider Program so, if you are planning to become an Xbox One Beta tester, then there’s no better time than do it now. Through this you are allowed to test some of the latest patches, latest system updates or even gain access to some early access games.
Back then, it was difficult to get to the Beta test level because it was actually closed for selected people or you had to get an invite to get into the program. Then they introduced the Xbox Insider Program which was easier to get into but you got less benefits, you couldn’t get access to all the best updates and features.
Right now they actually renamed their groups, there’s four different level of Insider Program and what they are sating is that you can actually make your way through those rings straight into the Beta level where you get a lot of updates. But remember that being a Beta tester always bring some hazards because sometimes you get an update that will break stuff.
There’s now four different groups; Omega, Delta, Beta and Alpha.
There are some benefits but sometimes there’s some hiccups and you need to be aware of them. Also, Microsoft has provided some nice statistics saying that depending on the level, your bandwidth usage more month with new updates may vary.
- Omega gets 1-8 updates a month. That means that you may get 4-32 GB of new data.
- Preview Delta varies, select users can get around 3 updates per week, So you may get around 12 GB of new data per week.
- Preview Beta is 8-15 updates per month so, that’s 32-60 GB of new data.
- In Preview Alpha is 15-20 different updates a month and you may get roughly around 60-80 GB of new data a month.
These are some things to consider if you want to save the bandwidth don’t join the Insider Program.
