The Core i9 CPU’s will use a 14 nanometer FinFET process, there’s going to be 4 CPU in total here for the Core i9’s. The lowest one will have a 6 Core, 12 Threads, then there’s the 8 Core and the 10 Core. You can expect the 10 Core to replace the current i7 6950X, rounding out the top of the line i9 is the 7920X with 12 Cores and 24 Threads. It has a monstrous 16 MB L3 cache, all of the i9 will use quad channel memory. The 7800X and the 7820X will run with 140w TDP while the 7900X and the 7920X will run at 160w TDP.
The high-end professionals will be pleased to know that it’ll have 44 Gen 3 PCI lanes. As for price we don’t know for sure but the folks over at the Wccftech, they are saying that the 7920 will cost $1500. To put into perspective the AMD 8 core Ryzen 7 1700 is $320 while the Ryzen 7 1800X is $489. Without any official details from Intel, it’s hard to say what the pricing will be for the other i9’s below the 7920X.
One thing is for sure though, Intel will surely price their price above the AMD because Intel brand and mind share with the consumers and business professionals are still at a very high level. Some people are just comfortable with Intel even if AMD offered the same performance at a cheaper price.
