Intel just announced new 8th generation mobile processors at a special event in Beijing. Where among the lineup the two new mobile processors that stand out are the Core i9 8950HK and Xeon E-2168. Both of which offer the highest performing present on a mobile chip.
The new Intel 8th generation mobile processors are based on the same 14nm++ coffee lake architecture. Both the Intel Core i9 8950HK and the Xeon E-2169M come equipped with a total of six processing cores. That are clocked in at 2.9GHz base and 4.8GHz boost frequencies. Aside from that both the processors also come with 12MB of cache, hyper threading and a 45W TDP. Though on Xeon E-2168M there is also support for ECC memory and Intel VPro technology.
With the new 8th generation mobile processors, Intel also introduced a new Thermal Velocity Boost technology. That according to Intel will “opportunistically and automatically increases clock frequency by up to 200 MHz if the processor is at a temperature of 50°C or lower and turbo power budget is available”. Though this new technology from Intel is only limited to its flagship processors.
Aside from the flagship processors, Intel also announced its regular SKUs. That includes two Core i7 processors, the Core i7 8850H and the Core i7 8750H. Both of these mobile processors will come equipped with a total of six cores, coupled with 12MB of cache, hyper threading and a 45W TDP.
The Core i5 mobile processors on the other hand also includes two SkUs, the Core i5 8400 and the Core i5 8300. Both of which comes equipped with a total of four cores, that also supports hyper threading. The Core i5 mobile processors will come with 8MB of cache and will also have the same 45W TDP.
Intel sure has something for everyone this year. So do expect to see a lot of options available for user through different laptop manufacturers in the coming months.
