HTC might have just showcased its next flagship device, the U12. The phone was shown at a 5G event held in Taiwan this month. Not a lot is known about this phone yet, but judging from the design. The smartphone does come in line with the details on tje next flagship device from HTC. Which is said to come with a bezel-less display, supporting the new 18:9 aspect ratio.
Being showcased at a 5G event, this mystery phone is not only limited to running 5G technology. Instead the phone will be using a combination of a new technology known as gigabit LTE. That combines LTE with the unlicensed 5G Wi-Fi band to gain the additional needed bandwidth. The currently used Qualcomm snapdragon 835 also support the same technology. So we won’t be surprised if this new phone from HTC is running the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 inside.
The showcased U12 phone from HTC was also able to achieve a maximum download speed of 809 Mbps. Which is not impressive considering that the current flagship from HTC can also reach to the same speeds. This 5G event was hosted by a telecom Taiwanese company known as Chungwa Telecom. That will be responsible for building up 5G network by the year 2020.
In terms of specs the HTC U12 is expected to come equipped with a 6 inch display. That will support a max resolution of 1440 x 2880 on a Super LCD6 panel. There will also be the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip running inside, coupled with 6GB of RAM. The HTC U12 will also come with IP68 certification, stereo speakers and an option for expanding storage via microSD card slot.
Everything about the upcoming HTC U12 does seem to be in line with the trend. But it would have been nice if HTC went for an OLED display, rather than going for LCD like all its other devices. What are your thoughts about this mystery phone from HTC?
