While speaking of graphics cards, why do we always look for gaming-specific cards? The cryptocurrency miners are spread all over the world in such a huge number that coping up with the mining needs from the gaming cards isn’t enough. GIGABYTE has jumped into the scene with ‘P104-100 4G Mining Graphics Card’.
That’s what the card is called and it is basically, a mining graphics card based on NVIDIA P104-100 mining processor. As you can guess from the nomenclature, that it is derived from the “GP104” silicon. Gigabyte has got its P104-100 configured with 1,920 CUDA cores. Here’s a brief list of features:
- 4 GB of GDDR5X memory
- A 256-bit wide memory interface
- A PCI-Express 3.0 x16 bus interface
- x4 wiring with x16 length on its interface
Speaking of the clock speeds recorded so far, the GV-NP104D5X-4G has a base clock speed of 1607 MHz and a boost clock speed of 1733 MHz. The memory is clocked at 10 GHz (GDDR5X-effective) and it draws power from a single 8-pin PCIe power connector.
As you might have guessed, the card doesn’t have any display outputs, so you can’t use it for any other purpose than cryptocurrency mining. To disperse the heat, the company has installed a simple aluminum fin-stack heatsink.
The cooling mechanism depends on the three ventralized fans, carried over from the company’s latest WindForce 3X cooling solution. This one differs from the reference cards in terms of warranty as they come with a 3-month warranty only. You can expect the price tag to be lower than GTX 1080 or GTX 1070.
