Dell brought its XPS laptop series quite a long time ago and it has turned out to be a great option though. XPS 13 is one of the most good-looking options among others and the latest processor refresh that the company has introduced in it has brought its performance level to a rise of almost 40 percent. Dell has promised a refreshed up XPS 13 with the latest quad-core Kaby Lake R processor from the Intel’s 8th generation. All these developments took place on Monday at IFA in Berlin where the company said that they will bring two high-end SKUs with Intel’s latest 8th-generation Core chips, Kaby Lake R installed in them.
Speaking of the pricing of the latest laptop by Intel, it will have a base price of $799 but without Kaby Lake R. To get the one with Kaby Lake R with a Core i7 processor inside it, will have a starting price of $1,400.
The specialty of the Kaby Lake R CPUs is that these processors are going to be the first ever batch of quad-core processing power along with the 8 threads. The 44 percent gain after all these processor mods was necessary and expected. Here are the two Kaby Lake R CPUs in the XPS 13 lineup:
- Core i5-8250U having a base clock speed of 1.6GHz and a boost speed of up to 3.4GHz
- Core i7-8550U having a base clock speed of 1.8GHz and a boost speed of up to 4GHz
