Fulfilling a promise that Facebook made just weeks ago, the site has finally launched an app on Samsung smart TVs; dedicated Facebook video app. Following the official launch, the app is now available on all smart Samsung TVs from 2015 to 2017. Further, any Facebook user can benefit from the app, accessing by downloading the same; through the ‘Samsung Smart Hub.’
When it comes to watching any video(s), Facebook account holders must acknowledge the site’s efforts to finally make Samsung (at least) a platform that features the latest dedicated application of this multi-million-user social network. Recalling Facebook’s previous announcement, the site had hinted to release the app in question soon; aiming at several other media players and (connected) TVs. However, if the video app is launched on Samsung, Apple and Amazon Fire TVs didn’t get the same yet; neither the site quoted any specific date for launching the app on any other platforms.
On Feb. 14 CODE Media Conference, the Facebook’s VP (Partnerships) had shared his views and explained whether why the site wanted to have this app for big TV screens. Dan Rose had stated that the move in fact is the site’s attempt to compete with rival YouTube, in the best possible way. When it comes to video-sharing, creators find YouTube a best place for uploading, sharing as well discovering their respective work, Dan Rose believed.
Confirming the news, Samsung said that the app is not only for the Samsung Smart TVs but the entire QLED 2017 TV lineup and TV models between 2015 and 2017 will also equally benefit from it.
Samsung thus happens to be the only Smart TV manufacturer for the time being; supporting the subject dedicated Facebook video app.
