Uber will collaborate with German automaker Daimler to achieve its dream of self-driving cars.
Earlier, the craze for getting self- driving capability was an obsession of automaker companies only, as we can see Tesla for its day to day development in this regard. However, Uber seems to be a step ahead in this race, though its domain is entirely different.
According to the recent updates, it is teaming up with a German car manufacturer to get on the track of automatic driving experience as soon as possible.
It is happening for the very first time that any major automobile giant, like Daimler, will provide any ride-hailing network cars, built in-house, to work for it.
The move indicates a very serious approach of Uber that is solely concerned about making the driving experience more reliable and exciting, and of course very economical.
Interestingly, the contract does not bind each other in eternal relationship. The car maker can provide the same services to other competitors as well; similarly, Uber can hire services of any other manufacturer, as reportedly, the network has kept the platform open for all competent automobile companies to share their performance.
However, it is certain that the contract can hit its target very soon, maybe in few years, to be exact.
Uber comments that the services of the German manufacturer are inevitable for them, as the network has no experience in this field. Besides, they want to give consumers the best of the ride experience through bringing the world class technology into play.
In the past, the network has been working with other automakers as well. It teamed with Volvo to create the self-driving version for a sport utility vehicle, XC90, which is under test at the moment. Likewise, it collaborated with Ford to modify a fleet of Ford Fusion vehicles, by equipping it with sensors and cameras for autonomous capabilities.
Critics believe that Uber can benefit from the contract in many ways if it goes as planned. For example,
Such contracts can clear the confusions that Uber is a potential threat for car industry.
The company can boost its consumerism by increasing its stock of vehicles.
Although, Uber has been facing certain issues regarding permit for undertaking self-driving experiments in the past, it is still determined to make it possible any way.
