The infamous and controversial ”Great Firewall” is the part of China’s cyber security censorship and surveillance program which is officially called the Golden Shield Project. The project commence in 2003 and it was completed in 2006 .

The recent statement issue on the website of the China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Sunday state : that it plant to spend the new year “cleaning up” the internet access service  CDNs IDCs,  ISPs, and crackdown on VPN ( virtual private networks) companies .The “clean-up” process of the country internet connections would start from now and its expected to end on March 31, 2018.

Last week Chinese President Xi Jinping defended the tenets of globalization at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. And call that each country should have control and authority over its internet access .

Virtual Private Networks allow user to access restricted ,censored websites through encryption and conceal user appearance and internet traffic .With the new law and regulations VPN company has to obtain government approval before operating in China. Using a VPN without permission is illegal and forbidden.
