China has decided to create an exascale supercomputer that is yet another technical marvel for the world.

The powerful machine will perform almost 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 calculations per seconds, generally referred as peta-flop system. The Chinese media aired the great news that the new computer will be the world’s first prototype exascale (1,000-petaflop) computer.

Processing at such a massive level i.e. least 1 quintillion (a billion billion) will assist in undertaking huge research in the disciplines of nuclear activities, weather forecasting and code-breaking.

200 times powerful than the earlier Tianhe-1 (the world’s fastest in 2010), this machine will bring a revolution in the globe.

The news soon got attention of the global media. US government website reports that this invention will bring phenomenal development in unveiling the complex processes behind the universal secrets. Furthermore, the relationships between the fundamental forces of the universe can be easily discovered.

Xinhua news agency reports that the prototype of the machine will be made public at the end of 2017, however, the entire system along with all the relevant applications can be expected in 2020.

Although it is yet to be determined how relative the prototype would be, we can expect the final version will come up to the expectations of the global media and science.

Such efforts are also underway in other countries as well i.e. Japan and the US. US particularly plans to make its exascale operational by 2023. The project is said to have allocated $39.8 million of grants to develop it in collaboration of other partners.

China owns the race of building IT technology by securing 167 out of leading 500 powerful systems compared to165 of USA, though US has got more in the top five. Interestingly, these systems are used for numerous tasks ranging from natural sciences to national defence.

Update Finally begins World Wide; Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S7 Android 7.0 Nougat Rolls-Out

Ironically, US blocked the export of Intel chips to China lest they copy it, which was altogether proved different by China by creating it own processing giant; (the Sunway TaihuLight).
