Aside from the flagship devices, Android ecosystem has some mid-range premium smartphones which require mid-range SoCs. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 and 630 are two of the newest models by the Californian company. These two are actually the upgraded version of Qualcomm’s previous premium offerings Snapdragon 652 and 625 which were also good but the new range offers better battery life and other additional features.

What’s New In Snapdragon 660 and 630

The modern day mid range processors offer more features and faster connectivity but the feature which grabbed our attention the most is the better battery life which is the main thing that even some of the best smartphone are lacking these days.

The specifications of the two new processors SoCs are listed below:

  • Bluetooth 5
  • Qualcomm Quick Charge 4
  • Better Camera processing
  • Additionally, SD660 has 2 x 2 MIMO Wi-Fi as well
  • 14nm technology with support for up to 8GB of RAM
  • 20 percent CPU speed improvement for SD660 and 10 percent for SD630
  • An eight-core Kryo 260 CPU and an Adreno 512 GPU for SD660
  • 8 Cortex A53 cores and an Adreno 508 GPU for SD630

Improved Battery Life

Improved and efficient performance always leads to better battery life as is the case here. Both the processors are expected to increase the battery life of the smartphones featuring them. As for the availability, Qualcomm says the SD660 is now shipping and the SD630 will be shipping later this month.
