We got a lot of surprises at the ongoing MWC event this year. But what got us excited was Asus, with its new Zenfone 5z flagship phone. That combines an interesting design with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 for a reasonable price tag of €479 on the base model.
At MWC 2018, Asus announced two new devices known as the Zenfone 5z and Zenfone 5. Both the devices are almost similar in terms of design, but do differ from one another when it comes to specs. Both the devices will come equipped with a 6.2 inch display that support a resolution of 2246×1080 on a 19:9 panel. The devices also sport a notch at the top, just like on the iPhone X. But according to Asus its “26 percent smaller than the Fruit Phone X”. Though Asus is using Super IPS display instead of OLED.
The only difference between the Zenfone 5z and Zenfone 5 is in its processing power. Where the Zenfone 5z comes equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. While the Zenfone 5 comes with a Snapdragon 635 instead. Aside from that the high end model also sports up to 8GB of RAM, while the regular Zenfone 5 is limited to 6GB of RAM. Where to power everything both the phones come equipped with a 3300mAh battery inside.
The Asus Zenfone 5z and Zenfone 5 also comes equipped with a dual camera setup at the back, featuring a combination of 12MP shooters. While at the front there is an 8MP shooter. Asus also introduced AI with the announcement of the Zenfone 5 lineup. That should give the phone a little bit of overhead during heavy tasks, called AI boost. Aside from that AI photo learning, AI camera and AI charging were also introduced with the new lineup.
What do you think about the new Zenfone 5 lineup, would you like to invest in an iPhone X look alike from Asus?
