Last year Samsung was the only provider of OLED panels for Apple. But it looks like things are going to change as LG might also intervene as a supplier of OLED panels to Apple. According to a report from South Korea, Apple is currently planning to bring LG in to diversify its OLED suppliers aside from Samsung.
The OLED panels that will be designed by Apple is also expected to start shipping in the second half of this year. Aside from that LG is also expected to produce around 16 million OLED panels for Apple. Which certainly is low compared to what Apple demands but considering LG is starting fresh it shouldn’t come as a surprise. While Samsung would be handling majority of the OLED panel demand for Apple. Because Apple usually sells more than 200 million iPhone models every year.
According to a report Apple might be gunning for an iPhone with an every bigger display compared to the iPhone X. Which is said to be around 6.5 inches. This means that Apple might be planning to launch two models of the next iPhone device. That would include a model with a regular size display, just like on the iPhone X. While the other model is expected to come with a 6.5 inch display. Which certainly is a big size for a smartphone display, considering that the Samsung Note 8 comes equipped with a 6.3 inch display.
The information about these two new upcoming iPhone models from Apple also comes in line with what KGI analyst Ming Chi Kuo predicted. But according to him a third model of iPhone would also be launched, that might see the light of day after sometime. This model from Apple is rumored to sport an LCD panel that would make the next bezel-less iPhone from Apple a little more affordable for users.
