The world of technology is always in a state of transition and the recent top trend proved to be taking on the scene is the trend of ‘Applications’ which are more commonly referred as ‘Apps.’ The 2016 stats showed a significant rise in apps usage while the same trend continued in the year 2017.
A Good Amount Of Time Spent On Apps
‘One Trillion Hours!’ Yes, you read it absolutely right! A popular forum App Annie states that people spent nearly One trillion hours in using apps in the past year of 2016. The graph below shows an increase of 25% in Android apps usage in the first quarter of 2016.
This rapid increased is based on the fact that the past year has proved to be the year of increase in smartphone users. The sky-high figures of app downloading don’t support the fact of increased usage. Most of the apps in our smartphones lie around all the time without being used in months. According to the report, there are usually 9 or 10 apps to the maximum that we use the most and the rest are left as it is and are only used occasionally.
If you are thinking that 9 or 10 is a big number, this is because of the reason that we need an app for almost anything that we do on our smartphone. So the average figures add up the numbers. The list may include tools, utilities, productivity, shopping, entertainment, and other apps.
Time Spent On App Usage Is Increasing Day By Day
Since after 2015, the average amount spent on using the apps is increasing in U.S.A. The figures show that on average, people use apps on their smartphone for about two hours and 15 minutes per day. Added up, this accounts to a full month of app usage in a year. Not only this, studies prove a dramatic increase in the figures in the past two years.
App Usage Sessions
In the graphs provided by App Annie, we can see the number of sessions per day and time per session. People tend to spend more time in a session of apps related to transportation or commutation. But the sessions per day are less as compared to that of social media apps. On the other hand, apps related to Finance consumed less time of people but more sessions per day. Dating apps show higher graphs both in sessions per day and time per session.
