Lisa Su at their AMD financial day said that Vega Frontier will be release at the end of June and all other version of Vega such as; gaming Vega, data center Vega and professional graphics Vega will release very soon thereafter. And specifically they will be launching Vega across all of the market segments over the next couple of months. So, once again this is confirmation let’s say late June, July, August at the very latest we should in theory see RX Vega.
For those who don’t know the RX Vega, it is the consumer derivative of the new Frontier version of Vega. It’s for like professional usage scenarios. So, for example professional graphics or whatever. Also on the Reddit AMA Raja Koduri said:
“If gaming is your primary reason for buying a GPU, I’d suggest waiting just a little while longer for the lower-priced, gaming-optimized Radeon RX Vega graphics card. You’ll be glad you did.”
So, there you have it; Vega for gaming will be much more faster than Frontier GPU but expected somewhere in July. Releasing Vega now at the end of the Pascal life-cycle and only managing to be 5 -10 percent within the 1080Ti in the public’s eye it’s a failure. Or at the very least a huge let down for all of AMD’s enthusiasts.
So, what do you guys think of this? Are we too harsh on AMD? If the benchmark comes out that is with in 10 percent of the 1080 Ti. Do you consider that to be a failure? For us that is indeed a failure. So, let us know what do you think in the comment section below.
