With most of us waiting for the upcoming AMD VEGA. The company recently announced their plans for future graphics hardware. Where at 2017 Financial Analyst Day, the red team showed up its plans for the future. Which includes the next GPU architecture from AMD. After VEGA AMD is planning on working on their new GPU architecture known as AMD Navi. Which will be based on a new 7nm manufacturing process.
During the Financial Analyst Day, AMD showed a bunch of slides regarding their upcoming GPUs. Where AMD showed that VEGA will come with two difference manufacturing processes. That includes a 14nm VEGA as well as a 14nm+ VEGA GPU. There is no official date on the launch of AMD VEGA, but do expect it to launch on Computex 2017 later this month. While we might also see a refreshed version of AMD VEGA in 2019. Just like what they did with their Polaris RX 400 and RX 500 series.
What’s important about the upcoming AMD Navi GPU is its new 7nm manufacturing process. This also means that the new GPU will be a lot more powerful while using less power. But if everything goes the way AMD is doing things now. Don’t expect AMD Navi to get announced before the end of 2018. AMD also showed another GPU that the company has planned for the year 2020. Which includes a GPU with an improved 7nm+ manufacturing process, basically a refreshed version of the same architecture.
AMD Navi sure looks impressive, but the upcoming AMD VEGA won’t be a letdown either. Where with VEGA, AMD is aiming towards the high end GPU’s from its competitor. Which currently includes the GTX 1070, GTX 1080 and GTX 1080 Ti. We also expect that AMD VEGA as usual, will be a cheaper solution compared to what Nvidia is offering.
What do you think about the upcoming VEGA GPU from AMD?
