AMD announced its quarterly financial results on Wednesday highlighting an interesting result from the fourth quarter of 2016. AMD’s last quarter of 2016 was quite good, with sales of $ 1.106 billion, up 15% from the same quarter in 2015. With these improve figure the company is still in $3 million losses when the situation of a deficit was 49 million a year ago.
In particular, Computing and Graphics, which includes processors and GPUs for graphics cards, mark revenues increase by 28% compared to the last quarter of 2015, a turnover of $ 600 million. However, this is not enough for AMD to be generating a positive revenue and prevent it from loss. On the contrary, it suffered a loss of $ 21 million, which is still contained compared to 2015 where they face $ 99 million loss.
The company Enterprise and Semi-Custom business (which sells APUs for gaming consoles) witnessed the decline in sale its profit drop 20% to $ 47 million. The margin at this level seems less relevant, as turnover increases by 7%, to 506 million dollars.
For the full year 2016, AMD recorded an increase in revenue of 7% compared to 2015, to $ 4.272 billion. The overall result is still very negative, with a loss of $ 497 million. However, it should be remembered that the loss was $ 660 million in 2015 and $ 364 million in 2014. In 2013, AMD had a net profit of $ 89 million.
