Earlier this month AMD had announced the launch of their new Ryzen model series. The series will include 17 new models for the AM 4 Platform and feature various SKUs based on 4, 6, and 8 core dies. The lineup is based on the ZEN Architecture, features unlocked multipliers and will be priced competitive to Intel’s HEDT and mainstream CPUs.

Lets take a closer look at the models that have been announced and how they compare with Intel’s CPU’s.

AMD Ryzen 7 series CPUs

The Ryzen 7 series CPUs are all 8 core/ 16 thread processors with clock speeds ranging from 3.0 Ghz to 3.4 Ghz. The processors in this family are the Ryzen 7 Pro 1700, the Ryzen 7 1700, Ryzen 7 1700x, Ryzen 7 Pro 1800, and the Flagship of this series is the Ryzen 7 1800x.

AMD Ryzen 7 1800X (Flagship Processor)

The “x” varient in the AMD Ryzen lineup is the fastest of the series. The Ryzen 7 1800x features 8 cores, 16 threads, L2 + L3 Cache of 20 MB (4 MB + 16 MB), and a TDP of 95W. This processor is designed for gaming enthusiasts and as such will be priced around $500. The Ryzen 7 1800x is on par with the Intel i7 6900K.
