In 2019, Amazon obtained the mesh networking startup Eero, and then in no time released new and more affordable versions of the Eero mesh routers. Currently, the company has released two new mesh routers, and they are the Eero 6 and Eero Pro 6. Just as their names indicate, both new mesh routers add in support for Wi-Fi 6, which is the latest and fastest version of Wi-Fi, and nothing can beat this.

Home Wi-Fi is needed now more than ever owing to work from home culture flourished due to COVID-19. Currently, due to the pandemic, several people are working from home, schools are running online, families are keeping in touch via the internet, people are streaming and gaming, and almost everything is being done online. This requires a high speed, uninterrupted home Wi-Fi.

The Eero 6 series is the fastest Eero series yet, providing customers with the speed and total reliability of Wi-Fi 6 at an affordable price that is making their lives easier and streaming uninterrupted.

Dual-band versus Tri-band

The Eero 6 dual-band coverage offers one band for 2.4GHz and one for 5GHz. The 2.4GHz frequency band is usually crowded with traffic and interference, though, not only from Wi-Fi devices but from other items like microwaves and cordless phones. On the other hand, the 5GHz band was introduced as a medium to unload some of that traffic. It also provides more limited coverage than the 2.4GHz. But together, the two bands are well-equipped to manage and handle wireless traffic.

The Eero Pro 6 tri-band coverage provides three bands, one for 2.4GHz and two for 5GHz. This allows these types of routers to handle and manage more devices and connections. But it’s important that the devices have to support 5GHz, and real-world performance often relies more on other factors.

Wi-Fi 6

Wi-Fi 6 is the most recent Wi-Fi technology providing faster speeds, higher performance, and better support for simultaneous device usage all through the home.

With several devices designed to relay a stronger, more reliable Wi-Fi signal all through your whole house, Eero’s mesh routers have an excellent track record for reliability and ease of use. The inclusion of Wi-Fi 6 support enables them to take advantage of wonky new features such as OFDMA and 1024QAM that make Wi-Fi faster and adequately suited for situations where several devices are trying to connect at once.

Security

Eero also does an excellent job of keeping home networks secure with regular automatic security updates for every Eero device. That method will continue with the new routers, and the company will also continue to provide advanced privacy and parental control features for just $2.99 per month with an Eero Secure subscription.

The Eero 6 series comes with high-quality encryption and security protocols. Eero Secure gives extra protection with parental controls, ad blocking, and more.

Smart Home and Office Support

The Eero 6 Mesh routers are designed with a built-in Zigbee smart home hub, eliminating any requirement for extra Zigbee hubs around the home. With the built-in Zigbee smart home hub, the Eero 6 Mesh routers perfectly connect compatible devices on your network with Alexa, so you don’t need to get a separate Zigbee smart home hub for every device. In order to enjoy this feature, you will need to link your Eero and Amazon accounts.

The routers include built-in Zigbee radios to allow them to connect with things such as smart locks and Philips Hue smart lights, and also continue to work with Alexa, which enables you to pair them with an Echo speaker.
