We see a lot of gaming laptops here and there, but nothing compares to what Acer is currently offering. Acer recently announced their Predator 21 X, a $9000 gaming laptop that comes equipped with dual GTX 1080s in SLI. Something we have not seen from any other manufacturer. Though being a gaming laptop Acer Predator 21 X is not compact and does come with its own rolling briefcase.
As its name suggests the Acer Predator 21 X comes with a 21 inch curved display. Though most of the space on the laptop is covered by the full sized mechanical keyboard. Which comes with Cherry MX switches, making its users feel right at home. Upon opening the laptop for the first time, users would notice that there is no trackpad on the laptop. Well Acer has done something unique here and have provided a separate trackpad with the laptop. That attaches to the laptop via magnets and can also be used as a numeric keypad if needed. If that wasn’t enough the Acer Predator 21 X also comes with Tobii eye tracking found below the 21 inch display.
In terms of specs the Acer Predator 21 X comes with a 21 inch display, which supports a resolution of 2560 x 1080. Internally there is an Intel 7th Gen Core i7 7820HK running under the hood. That is coupled with 64GB RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. While a 1TB mechanical HDD is also present. Though the best feature about the laptop is its dual GTX 1080s in SLI. Which provides a total VRAM of 16GB, more than enough for running the 120Hz display on the laptop. Though it would have been nice to see a 4k display instead.
The Acer Predator 21 X can also be overclocked. Though it’s all done through Acer Sense software, where user have the options to choice from three presets. Which includes a stock, faster and turbo mode. Though the latter two modes aren’t as quiet as the stock mode would be for most users. But if you don’t mind the noise and want to go for the extra performance, it’s there to be utilized.
So who is the $9000 Acer Predator 21 X gaming laptop for? Well to be honest we are not sure about that. Because at that price you can get a gaming laptop and a desktop gaming PC with the same specs mentioned above.
