Qualcomm has been pitching their advancement in the 5G technology since 2017 and now they have come up with another exciting news for the technology lovers.
World’s First Fully-Integrated 5G NR mmWave
With many other progressions made in the field of SoCs, Qualcomm is now ready to take on the challenge of introducing world’s first fully-integrated 5G NR mmWave and sub-6GHz RF modules for smartphone and other mobile devices.
About the Module
According to Qualcomm, it’s a super-small sized device with QTM052 mmWave antenna module family and the QPM56xx sub-6GHz RF module that will be joined with the Snapdragon X50 5G modem. It will be powering next-generation flagship smartphones of all the world-class leading manufacturers.
If you think that the 5G news isn’t much, Qualcomm has claimed that until now, a working mobile mmWave solution was not possible.
It hasn’t happened, and wasn’t close – and somehow, with most likely dark magic and lots of Redbull, they’ve pulled it off – 5G will become a reality in 2019.
Qualcomm is already pushing its 5G NR mmWave technology to customers with 5G millimeter phones in testing labs. Being optimistic, we can say that the commercial 5G-capable devices will start shipping to consumers in the first half of 2019.
Who knows the upcoming next-gen Samsung Galaxy S10 or foldable Galaxy S10 might come with Qualcomm’s tasty-fast 5G modem inside of it unveiled early next year?
